DBS CERTIFICATES As the Chief Instructor and Technical Director I hold a current, checked and validated enhanced DBS (formerly CRB) certificate, as do all my club instructors. FIRST AID I am appropriately trained in first aid, as are a number of the other instructors. The qualification that I have selected for our club is the First Aid at Work (FAW) certification as is for Sports and Leisure Centre Staff. This is recognised as the industry standard. I also maintain a refresher program to keep my first aid qualifications current. One of our black belt instructors, who is also the club’s Child Protection Officer, is a medical doctor and works locally as a General Practitioner. In addition a number of other students are also involved in the medical field. If there were a situation (there hasn’t been to date) that required medical emergency treatment then we would of course rely on the emergency services and would contact them immediately and seek their guidance in how to respond. MEMBER-TO-MEMBER INSURANCE
One of many
requirements, prior to schools and leisure centres hiring
dojo facilities to us, is that all our members are covered
by appropriate martial arts public liability insurance. All
of our members benefit from £2,000,000.00 member-to-member
Public Liability Insurance. This is a group policy for which
licensed members of our club are included. Members can train
at any of our listed karate classes, and are also covered to
attend courses and events arranged by the club. However, the
insurance specifically DOES NOT cover you to train elsewhere
and is not transferable.
